It’s time for another Photo of the Month competition! Each month we hold a competition with a different theme for photographers to enter for the chance to win £100 in Photoion course vouchers. The competition is open to everyone.
The October theme is:
Abstract Photography
Abstract Photography can produce some of the most visually striking images possible with a camera.
Here are a few tips to help you take the best images possible:
– Choose strong shapes: At its core, abstract photography is all about shape and colour, so it’s important to choose strong shapes that complement each other.
– As mentioned above, colour is also one of the most important parts of Abstract Photography. Be sure to experiment with different colour options and try and capture images where the colour complements the shapes.
– Get close to your subject. Some of the best abstract photography is extreme close ups of everyday items.
– Look for interesting textures, particularly outside. Look for things like walls with peeling paint, or buildings and structures that have been worn by the weather. Entropy almost always makes for a fascinating subject.
